Guided Tour of the Tremiti Islands by Boat

Guided tour · Tremiti Islands

One day. One sea. One island you'll never forget.

A single escape, from dawn to dusk: from San Salvo to the heart of the Tremiti, with a skipper who knows this sea by heart.

The tour

One flagship tour. One unforgettable day.

Imagine leaving San Salvo Marina while the sun still hangs low and the harbour smells of salt and diesel. The engine warms, the lines drop, and ahead of you there's nothing left but open sea. The coast behind you thins — first a strip, then a line, then a memory.

For a while there's only blue, wind, and the hull cutting the swell. Then, on the horizon, a shape. Faint, then suddenly sharp: the Tremiti surface from the sea as if someone had just drawn them. That's where you understand why you came.

At the helm isn't just any guide, but a skipper with these waters in his blood: he knows every rock, every current, every cove you'll never see from land. He knows where the water runs clearest at dawn and where to shelter when the wind turns. All that's left for you to do is look around and let the day happen.

The day

The story of a single day

Just one certainty: you leave at 9:00 and return around 18:30. Everything in between is written by the sea — together with you and your skipper.

9:00

Departure

It all begins at Cala del Golfo, San Salvo Marina. The engine comes alive, the moorings drop, the coast starts to slide away. Ahead, the open sea: the day is still entirely unwritten.

The Crossing

Only water, sky, and the white wake behind you. The wind tastes of the open sea. You talk, you fall quiet, you fix your eyes on the horizon — until, far ahead, the first faint silhouette of the islands lights up.

The Archipelago

The Tremiti reveal themselves one by one: sheer white cliffs, the green of the pine woods, water that changes colour with every metre of depth. Entering the marine reserve is like lowering your voice without realising it.

The Stops

Your skipper slows wherever the water calls. A sheltered cove, the shade of a sea cave, San Nicola watching from the water with its abbey. You dive in, you float, you climb back aboard, you move on. The stops are decided by the sea — and by the one who can read it.

Lunch

On board, anchored in a quiet bay, with the sea as your only table. Or ashore, at one of the islands' selected restaurants, arranged before you set off. The group chooses, the skipper organises.

The Afternoon

A few more views, the last swims, time stretching out. The light turns warm and golden, the Adriatic changes its skin. This is the hour when the Tremiti become a painting.

~18:30

The Return

You point the bow toward home. The coast reappears: first a line, then solid land. The engine sings softer now. By now the day has become a memory you'll carry with you for a long time.
